The land of single socks

Does anybody else have this in their home? It drives me crazy. The bin where all the lonely socks go to die. I am washing one more load of clothes and if their mates don't turn up, they are outta here!

songwriter`

Avery has really gotten into making up songs lately. She sings about everything. She doesn't care if you are listening or not, and she makes up lyrics to her daily activities. Every once in awhile she will have a "concert," but most of the time she just sings to herself. HA!
She's such a little me.

Just a couple she's "written" lately:
(Most if not all songs are to the tune of "Are you sleeping?")

My sweet, sweet spirited boy

HAPPY BIRTHDAY GRANDADDY

The Robison family planned a 85th birthday celebration for Grandaddy today. Here are a few pics. Happy Birthday! We love you!

Dave Matthews- Nashville

Ok, so we hardly ever get a date nite, and here we are going to two concerts within the month!
Don't worry, we have nothing else planned till October.

BUT- we went to Nashville to see Dave last nite and of course, he was AWESOME.
The best part was staying and MaryJo's ROCKIN house and meeting up after the concert with her, Nate, Jennifer and Brandon.

MJ- I had so much fun, thanks for being the hostess with the mostess and we will be back REALLLLLLLLy soon.
I love Nashville!

(Funny story- We sat behind two girls...very nice.young. We got to talking about our kids, being married, etc. and they said: Well, its good that you still get out. hahahaha I told Nick I guess we really are getting old if people are surprised we still go hear music.lol)

WSP- Orange Beach 2009

Last weekend, Nick and I got to go down to Orange Beach for the weekend. We got a little "kid-free" vacation and two wonderful nites of Widespread Panic. The only bummer was the beach was cold. But I can't complain, I love the beach and I'll take it anyway I can get it!

Keller Williams and the North Mississippi All-stars, two other groups we like, opened for WSP so we got a special treat with that. Its hard to believe we've been going to see them for over 10 years.

Don't have lots of pictures, couldn't bring cameras and I don't think you'd like to see me on the beach. I'll save all those for when we take the kids in June!

Thanks so much to Nana & Papa who kept the kids all weekend. They had a blast and I hope they didn't wear out their welcome:)

Averyisms

Havent done these in a while, I could write a book. This child talks from sun up to sun down. ha!

** At bible class tonite we were talking about water, how God gave us water and the different things we can do with it.(drink, bathe, grow plants, etc...) I held up a picture of an ocean and beach.
Me: : Ok kids what is this?
Avery: The beach!!!
Me: Right, now what can we do with this water?
Avery: Pee in it!!!

**Discussing why Avery will NOT sleep in her room...
Avery: Mommy, could you get Jesus to come take care of these monsters in my room?

** She told me that she wanted a sister and I needed to get one in my tummy.
I told her it ain't happening.

**Nick cooked dinner last week.(its hard to remember she's only 3)
Avery: Daddy, this supper is DELICIOUS.
Daddy: Why thank you Avery, Im glad you like it.
Avery: Congratulations Mommy. DO you know what that means?

** We were out of juice and I hvent had time to go to the store. Avery doesnt like milk and was getting a little irritated with me...As Nick was leaving for work she said: " Daddy, do you have a credit card? Mommy needs to go to the store and get me some juice!"

18 months old!!!

My sweet little boy had his 18 month check up today. As expected, he was off the charts. Literally. I asked what percentile he was and they pointed off the paper.

Stats: 34.2 lbs
34.5 inches tall

So he is gonna be a big boy, not just chubby:) in case you were wondering. They asked me if I had contacted Nick Saban to let him know what was coming in 17 years.lol

I figure he got the biggest genes on both the Pettus & Williams side.

He loves to eat, no surprise...and is excelling physically in all areas. He isn't "behind" with his talking, but he does not have 20 words yet...
The nurse said no fear- he has three strikes against him:
1. He is a boy
2. He is the 2nd child
3. His older sister is somewhat of a talker.

In the 10 minutes the Doctor & nurse were in there, Aveyr gave her entire speech on how she wants to be a nurse when she grows up, sang Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, talked about the 2 Easter Egg hunts she took part in, etc. etc.etc. I think they understood why Davis doesn't talk much- he can't get a word in!!! He LOVES his Sissy though, and he wants to do everything she does. I am so glad they are so close and pray they continue to be best of friends.
(I know you are not supposed to compare...but if you are interested, here are Avery's 18 month stats. See, aren't blogs great?!?)

He has reached all the 18 month milestones. He can run, throw a ball, climb, all of which he does quite well. As most know, he is ALL boy. He can get dirty in 3 seconds and loves every minute of it. Give him a pile of muddy water and he's happy for hours.

Davis is the sweetest thing. He loves to hug and kiss and bats his little eyes at you so he can get away with murder! He is so rough in his "play," but he has such a tender spirit. Its one of my favorite things about him.

DayDay is saying some things of note:(that I can make out. He jabbers alot, but Im not entirely sure what is saying...)
1. MaMa
2. DaDa
3. hot
4. It hurt
5. cat
6. dog
7. ball
8. choochoo
9. truck

Im sure there are more, but my brain is fried tonite! Now- he is being a little too quiet, I better go check it out!

Observations

* Haven't had time to blog. It's my therapy and I miss it. I'll be catching up...soon.

* Kate & I really should have contacted the reality show people when we decided to try and open a store with 4 kids under 4 running afoot. Never a dull moment!

* Went to Panic last weekend. Loved it. I am amazed at how high tech the hippies have become. (myself included). Used to you got a "moontimes" in the mail, mapped out your summer tour plan, & showed up at the shows with a little notepad and pencil to jot down setlists. If you missed a song, you asked around the next day or checked Everyday Companion when you got home. Now, WSP has their own ticketing service, Fan Community, FB page...They are on twitter, and people text the songs back & forth...everyone knows the complete show before midnight. Jimmy Herring has brought the band back to stardom. I love it.

* Avery is the smartest little thing around. I haven't posted some of her silliness in awhile. She told Nick last nite that supper was "delicious." She also told him to give me the credit card so I could go buy her juice today. On another note, she has broken 2 pairs of glasses twice in one month. We are doewn to no glasses as of now.

*Davis is getting bigger everyday. He cracks us up. His latest tactic is to sit on Avery and pin her down when she has something he wants. Pretty good strategy. He has also started little fits. Not cool. But he always give you that little smile that makes it hard to get on to him!

* Nick is working 3, yes 3 j-o-b's. Landscaping, The Tavern at nite, and reffing Soccer on Saturdays. Thanks to my hard-working hubby I am able to work day and nite (for free) to get this store open!!!

TO my fellow bloggers sorry for lack of posts. I am just trying to keep my head above water these days!

xoxo,
Lacy

Angels when they sleep

Easter 2009

So Easter was a little Different this year....There was no family picture in cute matching outfits, no "everybody fill up a pew" at church, no waking up Sunday morning to a basket full of surprises. Nick went to Marion Street, Avery went with MawMaw, and Davis & I were at the hospital. BUT, we were all able to meet up Sunday afternoon at Mom's house for some yummy lunch a ala Leigh. After a minor stove mishap, the kids got to play outside& hunt some eggs. And play on the tractor. What's an Easter post without a shot on the Kubota?
I explained to Avery that the Easter Bunny would wait till Monday to bring her & Davis's goodies since he was in the hospital, so that worked for her.
I swear I'm getting like my Mom. I put everything in the baskets, kids loved it, and I'm still finding stuff today that I forgot to put out. Mommy brain!
Hope everyone had a blessed Easter.

Davis's First Hospital Stay a.k.a. Trying to keep a tiger in his cage

WHEW~
After what I thought was going to be a quick doc visit for some antibiotics, we are finally home from a 3 day stint in the hospital. Here's the quick version...
Davis kept waking up through the nite Thursday screaming. I would calm him down, get him back to sleep, and an hour or so later it would start again. Around 3 a.m., the wheezing began. We went straight to the Doctor Friday morning and he was really struggling with his breathing then. Dr.H sent us right on down to the hospital.
It started off bad. The nurse stuck him three times before finding a vein, which I was NOT happy about. Those that know me know that I am very laid-back and nothing really sets me off. UNTIL you hurt my babies. I really had to bite my tongue on that one. (In their defense, the rest of the stay was grand- he especially loved his respiratory therapist:))

So, he had to be hooked up to an I.V., oxygen(only while sleeping) and a monitor on his toe. For those who know Davis well, you can imagine how fun this was for him! He was miserable. I really don't think he ever felt that bad, he just hated being tied down. It was like trying to keep a tiger in a cage. Or as I affectionately compared, a 24 hour church service. (Marion Street friends will understand that one!)
Friday afternoon, we had to go out in the hallway, while hooked up to everything, during the tornadoes. WILD!
Friday nite, he ripped out his I.V., pulled off the oxygen (while also taking a swing at the nurse) and got the tape off his toe....Needless to say it was a looooooooong nite. The nurses just couldn't get over how strong he was. However, he charmed them all & they all fell in love with him and were sad to see him go today.
Late yesterday afternoon, the decided to unhook him from everything and just push the meds through his iv as needed. He was bouncing off the wall after that. We took wagon rides, rode the bed up and down, up and down, played hide&seek in the closets...and climbed on everything in sight. MawMaw & Leigh came by, as did Nana, Papa, and Chigger.

note: I would like to take this time to thank Auntie Lisa for introducing Davis to pixy stix. He really needed a little sugar in his diet.:)It was so sweet when Avery came to see him last nite...you could tell they missed each other!
The final diagnosis was bacterial pneumonia. They also think he as allergy-induced asthma, and we will deal with that once the pneumonia is all gone.

As much as I despised being in the hospital, I did enjoy my cuddly one on one time with my sweet little man. He and I both were skipping out of there this beautiful Sunday afternoon. We are now home with antibiotics, steroids, and a nebulizer. But we ARE not in the hospital! God is good.

A few funnies from the stay:
1. They tried to put a regular pediatric id bracelet on Davis- Surprise it didnt fit! He had to get the adult version.
2. Avery called what he had: new Momya. She now says new-monya. A little better:)
3. He wouldn't eat the food. MIKEY who eats everything. What does that say about hospital food.

A true Cinderella

Avery went to ballet and then wanted to help us work at the store.

Egg "hunt"

Doin the Easter Egg Dance

Rolling the eggs back & Forth...Don't ask me?!

Riley P cheesing it up...

This is hilarious...look at the L (the boy) covering his ears while Avery & A. play!
Avery was supposed to have an Easter Egg hunt today at school. Since it was too cold, they just "hunted" eggs inside. I brought Davis by for a little while and snapped a few pictures. I didn't get to stay long, April, Atina, Jenny & I (peace out!) took a friend from church out to breakfast.
