Thinking of Daddy

Today marks 3 years since my Dad left us and went to Heaven. Please keep all of us in your prayers today- days like this, Father's Day, his birthday...are especially hard.

March 30, 2006 was the worst day of my life. Sometimes it seems like it happened yesterday, sometimes its seems like a lifetime ago since I've talked to him.

It's really hard now, because Avery has started to figure out my "Daddy" isn't here. She knows Papa Steve from pictures and stories, but she doesn't know him. She asks me why he is in heaven, why he couldn't stay here... and honestly, I don't have an answer for her yet.

This is my favorite picture of my Dad and I. This is how I like to remember him: smiling, good-looking, funny, and smart. Before the terrible cancer took him over.

I'm not trying to have a pity party today, my blog is my therapy, so I just write how I feel. All my faithful readers, Please give your Dad an extra hug today!

Playhouse Disney Live!!!!!

Last nite, Ivy, Riley, Avery and me went to see PLayhouse Disney Live. It was awesome!!! Ivy got us some amazing tickets and the kids had a blast. They sang the hot dog song all the way home.

Fun with Evan

Having a picnic in the backyard...

Avery is Ms.Mommy when Evan is here. He kinda goes along with it,Davis not so much!

"Helping" Evan slide

Having music time inside. BOOO Rain!(Davis was the DJ)

I've been keeping one of my besties little boy...he is four months older than Davis. Here are just a few pictures from Friday.

Stuff-a-Bear

Avery's school had someone like "build-a-bear" come on Thursday. They got to make their very own dog, name it, and got a birth certificate. I just had to share- I thought it was so funny she named it Avery!
(I snapped this right before naptime- she was a little out of it.)

Boys will be Boys

Davis lives to get dirty. Yesterday was no exception. As soon as we got back from taking Avery to school, he ripped of his crocs and went running for the rain puddles.
Who am I to deny him this tiny pleasure?

(I am still working on getting the clothes clean.)

Storytime

Wednesday, the kids and I (plus Evan) ventured out to storytime. Rain was predicted all day, and I did not want to stay cooped up in the house with three kids. For some reason, I thought this was a good idea. They were great at storytime, but getting three kids (3 and under) in and out of the library was another story. It was barely sprinkling when we left, but by the time we got there, it was a downpour. Then, storytime was moved upstairs. This was great fun trying to get Davis & Evan up two flights of stairs when they just wanted to run and explore the library. On the way out, Avery was crying because she wanted to take some shovel home with her. Evan was screaming because he wanted a hat. Davis was crying because I couldn't hold him while dealing with the other two come-aparts. Everyone in the library was staring...I'm sure they wanted to ssh! me but I think they could tell I had no control. I really thought I was about to be on candid camera or something. Anyhoo, I finally got them out to the car and all three fell asleep on the way home. Go figure.

On a separate note-I went to lunch yesterday with three other mommies and four other kids. Everyone was GREAT! It was a miracle. There was a little red hat lady lunch going on, and several of them came by to compliment our kids and told us how cute they were. They praised us for taking them to lunch with us, because "That's the only way they are going to learn how to behave in public." They were so sweet, it made me forget about the craziness at the library and ready for a new adventure.

By the way, I have total new respect for my Mom and I am understanding why we never got to go anywhere.lol

Weekend Wrap- up

Thursday, was rare treat:I got a girls nite out!!! I went with several girlfriends to Rosies. We talked so long they turned the lights down and the Spanish Music WAY up to give us the hint to get out. It was YUMMO! I forgot how good that place was. Thanks to MawMaw for watching the kiddos- Nick also got a guys nite out & went to the Havoc game.

Friday nite, Nick and I attended an event sponsored by our church: Laugh your way to a Better Marraige. It was great. We watched videos, ate, and chatted with other couples from our congregation. We did laugh alot and learned alot too. I highly recommend watching these videos if you get a chance. The kids had a sleep-overt with Nana & Papa, so after the seminar Nick and I got to come home and actually watch a MOVIE~ fun fun.

This morning,(after picking up my copy of Twilight), I took the kids to get Easter pictures made-with real bunnies. They did great and I hope they turn out as cute as they looked! We almost had a casualty-Davis nearly hugged the life right out of a little brown bunny. It was alot like the scene with Lennie from Of Mice and Men.

After that, the whole Family- my sisters, their husbands, Mom and all the kids, headed down to the River house for a "work day". The boys cut grass, dug a trench, cleaned out the garage: basically spruced things up. The girls mainly tried to keep the kids out of the way:) I really have Spring Fever now and can't WAIT to get out on the boat!

It's back to reality tonite...settling in with Pizza, Basketball, and our "getting ready for Church on Sunday" rituals.

Happy March Madness!

( I apologize for lack of pictures- I rode around with a camera and no memory card all weekend!)

He came in thru the bathroom window....

To borrow a Beatles line (kind of)...
Davis tried to go through the window to get in Avery's playhouse and got stuck. It was the funniest thing I have seen in a long time, the picture doesnt do it justice!

Boys v. Girls

We've been spending alot of time this week outside enjoying this beautiful weather. Avery & Davis are so different in how they "play" outside. This is just one example...
Avery carefully picks every flower she can find, puts them in a basket, takes them to the porch, etc...
Davis rips them out of the ground and throws them.

The Sleep Overt

BEFORE:

AFTER:

As you can see, it was a blast! I have been telling Avery that Riley P could spend the nite for a while. They go to school together, so we figured we would wait till SPring Break to have him over so they wouldnt be sick of one another:) For Avery's first time to "host" a sleepovert, (this is what she calls it, Im not misspelling...) We had all you would need!

Time to Play in the water, wash hands, brush teeth:

Pizza:

Fun times in the bath:

Popcorn and a movie!

They had fun. Avery & Riley actually got along well (not usual). The next morning however, after no sleep, they were a little ill. We will plan one again next year when I've caught up on my sleep.
