Praying for Sydney

True, my Avery bug can be a sassy diva at times, but she reaaly is a sweet compassionate little girl. Ever since we watched Sydney Newton on the news, she has been asking about her almost everyday. Out of the blue Saturday, she made her a card, put it in an envelope, and asked me to mail it to her. She told me she wanted to bring it and give Sydney a hug and a kiss. She loves her pink bracelet and she tells everybody what it says. (She actually has two on in this pic) I even heard her pray for little Sydney the other day at lunch. It just warms my heart because I know this is something Nick & I, as parents can be proud of for teaching her.

Tavern Idol

As many of you know, I tried out for American Idol back in the Summer of '06. Needless to say I didn't make it to Hollywood, although I did get through to the 2nd round in B-ham.
I decided to give it a go again, this time at the good Ol' Limestone Tavern. This is much more fun and I have lots more support.
Its down to three...who will win???
C'mon out Tuesday and see:)

My Night on Broadway

Me & the Hubby after curtain call

"tell me more, tell me more...."

Wonder what he's doing now....

Cheezing it up as Sandy

Singing On my Own

Me as Eponine

Avery had to reenact the show when we got home.
Friday and Saturday I performed with the community theater, A Night on Broadway. I haven't been officially "on stage" since college (unless you count the Music Festivals in Opelika) and it felt nice! I am no actress by any means but I do love to sing, so this was a blast. The best part was watching Avery- she was right in front singing along. She was so proud of her Mommy. She said she can't wait til next year(when she is a grown up) so she can sing on stage too.
I met many amazing young people and I encourage everyone to check out the next performance, whatever it may be.

Over a year!
Last week marked one year since Avery had her last seizure. I pray that this is a sign she has outgrown them. Thank you Lord!!!
I am still greatful for the outpouring of love that week.

Small town USA
A lot of people called it prison when I was growin up
But these are my roots and this is what I love
Cause everybody knows me and I know them
And I believe that's the way we were supposed to live
Wouldn't trade one single day here in small town USA
I heard this on the way to church this morning and thought- this needs to be the title of my next post. I admit I was one of those who couldnt wait to get out of A-town, but 13 years later, I am back with a smile.
No pictures to post, but I just wanted to take a second to brag on my little town. I was so excited to have a date nite Saturday, and even more happy that we didn't have to drive over 5 miles for good food & Fun.
We started out with dinner at Maria Bonitas, with Liz, Jim, Sam, Dan & KK, Amanda, Jay, & their nuggets. Then we walked down to Village Pizza to visit with Wes, Kim, Laura, Josh, & Nathan and hear some music. I ran into Andrea from High school, Beth, and too many more to name that nite. Finally, we took a hop, skip, and a jump down to Limestone Tavern to hear Bishop Black. Awesome band, and again I saw too many familiar faces there to name. (Including my wonderful cousin and cousin by default, Eddie & Jenn)
Everywhere I go I see new friends, old friends, and even family, and it just makes you feel good to be a part of Small town USA. Dont knock it until you try it.

Had to share
I originally videoed this to get Avery sliding so Nick could see. It turned out to be even funnier- watch how Davis rolls off the mat and then points at the other girl like its her fault! LOL
Point Mallard
Today we met Nicole & Evan at an old childhood favorite, Point Mallard. I cannot believe its been 15 years since I've been. Not much has changed, its still the best location other than Talledega to spot a mullet...but I digress... We didnt venture out past the kiddie area- no wave pool or slides until they are at least 12! We did go down the "beach," where Davis tore down some poor 10 year old kids sand castle and then proceeded to throw sand at him.
The kids had a blast! Here are some pictures:

Free shower
Watch the right corner...Davis takes off running when he sees me watering the flowers. This is a daily thing. HA!
