Mom confessions

Sometimes....
* I would like to eat a meal without someone touching me, sitting in my lap, or eating my food....and if its hot that would be a plus.
* I consider french fries a vegetable.
*I wish there were locks on shower doors & the kids could bathe themselves.
* I bribe my kids with candy
*I let my kids eat fruit snacks for breakfast (Hey,  it does say fruit!)
* I put the kiddos to bed without brushing their teeth.
* I feel many see Mommyhood is a thankless, non-paying job.....

I am proud...
*That my kids genuinely love to be around other people, and are pretty laid back and up for anything.
*That my boy and girl are the best of friends...even though they fight like cats and dogs occasionally.
* That we are raising Avery and Davis in a loving, Christian home, and making sure they grow up to be all around GOOD, caring people.

I am thankful...
* Both kids are healthy
* I have gotten to be home with them these early years.Although it gets tougher financially with each passing year,I wouldn't change a thing.
* for such loving, involved Grandparents

I LOVE...
* the innocence of children
* An occasional nite(or 2) away. And I dont think that makes me a bad Mom.
* Kisses from Dayday and Bear Hugs from Avery
* Laughing everyday at my precious babies...They truly keep me Forever Young.

Thrifting....

Ok.  I finally got to experience the wonder of thrift store shopping, and I actually had a great first time.  I dont like thrift stores.  Not that I think I am too good or whatever to shop there, but usually they are messy, unorganized, and dirty- 3 things that do NOT go well with my OCD personality.  Then there is the kiddos.  I do not have time or patience to search for that special find with a 4 year old and 2 year old under foot.   However, several girls at work had been talking about their weekly "thrifting' finds....and I had to find out what all the fuss was about.

I set out with a limit of $25 and a focus on name brands.  I am not a brand snob, but if I am gonna buy Old Navy or Target, I will do that online as I do now....using coupons &/or getting free shipping.  These clothes are expendable to me and usually end up in a yard sale the next year.   Isnt that the point of thrifting anyway? To find that steal???

So, I went to THRIFT MART in Huntsville.  The kids were in a good mood, we were on that side of town, so I thought, why not.

Great find #1: Gabiano gown for Avery....retail for these gowns are around $34
Great find #2: Hannah Andersson dress for Aves...retails from $30-54

I got myself a red camel (Belk) lounge dress for work and an Ann Taylor shirt....and then-
The deal of the day...An Isda and Co  linen skirt.
Im not sure what season this is, but the one's this year are $136 and UP!!!

MY grand total for all of this...are you ready???
$24!!!
yippee yeah me.

What great finds have you discovered lately?

Strollin'

Way to go, George!

A couple of weekends ago, Nick and I had the honor of attending the Athens State University Alumni Banquet.  George was a guest of honor and recieved the Committment to Teaching Award.  We all know how much he DESERVES this and we were very proud of him.

New glasses

Of course she wanted pink, but there were no cute ones to be had.  She opted for this deep purple, and I love them!

We did it again!

On Friday, Nicole and I planned to drive to Nashville and spend the nite with Mary Jo.  Our next 5K was at 7:30 Saturday morning.  Unfortunately, Nicole got sick and couldnt come up :(  I made it by myself, and MJ & I (much to our own surprise) got up at 6 Saturday morning and headed to the race in 40 degree weather and sprinkling rain.  We beat our time by about 1 minute or 2, so it was a success.  Meanwhile, Nicole went to the doc-in-the-box & got some meds and a shot and drove up to go out with us.  It was a FUN evening! I finally got to karaoke at Lonnies,,,,and we all had fun despite the Kentucky fans everywhere and the huge crowds.  Girlfriends are SO important and I am very lucky!
