Best of 2008

I was going to write a Good, Bad & Ugly post, but actually 2008 was a pretty good year. There were far too many good and far to few bad. So I will just focus on the Best Events in my life for 2008 (in no particular order)

*The birth of my nephews, on the same day, in the same hospital, less than 20 minutes apart.
* Watching my little baby boy blow out his first birthday candle
* Avery's first Ballet Recital
* Being a part of Ben & Lindsey's wedding- truly a family affair!
* Getting a permanent reminder of "motherhood" and friendships
* Going to LA with some of the best ladies on earth & being on TPIR
* Getting LASIK
* Moving home
* Spending time on the river
* Tybee Island, just the 4 of us
* Misty's slumber party
* Halloween: Minnie, Mickey, Princess Lea& Yoda
* Dinner, ballgames,Birthday celebrations, & Firelight conversations with our amazing neighbors
* Spending Father's Day with Nick at the Golf course
* The beach with my sisters

Eve of the Eve

Mary Jo, ever the party planner, suggested we celebrate New Years a nite early. Easier to get babysitters, less crowded, cheaper...
Nick is going to the Sugar Bowl tomorrow and will be in NOLA for 3 days, so he stayed home. I rode with Nicole & Matt and spent a wonderful nite in Nashvegas. Thanks MJ for getting this together, and as always, I had a great time with the Girls! (and guys)

highlights:
1. Our fatal attraction waiter who knew a little too much about Florence.
2. Getting to meet the famous DAN. Love him. Love his comments...
3. MJ spotting the little guy from Big & Rich. "Hey, isn't that the..."
and he was gone.
4. The other stalker guy who never left.
5. Hanging with Jennifer, and neither of us being preggo!
6. Getting to be the Tip Jar girl for the band at 2nd Fiddle. Ok so that was not such a highlight, but at least it got them to play Dixieland Delight.
7. Almost getting Matt run over in the jazzy.
8. Matt taking the Road less Traveled to get to Shlotskey's Deli.
9. Reminiscing about our last trip to Nashville and the unfortunate tooth incident.
10. Learning about Nate's MONSTER plan, and sharing with him my Gro-Go idea.

Happy New Years everyone. We will be celebrating at home tonite!

OLD friends

I mean this in the very best way. Friday, Nick and I met up for lunch with friends I have known the longest. TRULY.
Let's see..(follow me here) Slate's Grandmother and my Dad used to carpool to school. She was also my teacher. So we've been friends since before Kindergarten. He also went to preschool with Nick and played on their first Soccer team together. (One of the awesome parts of living in a small town...instead of 6 Degrees of Seperation, its more like 2). We went to the same high school and both ended up at Auburn, Birmingham, & Athens. Are you following me Slate? Just kidding he is one of my dearest friends.
Then there is Sonya. OH, my BFFAEUFE.(inside joke) She and I have been friends since 8th grade, and she lived one street behind me. She soon became a family friend, and Leigh & I both call her one of our bestest buddies. She too went to UNA so we have been hanging out a very long time. I am glad to be back in A-town so we can get together more often. I love Sonya because she never changes. She is the same friend I have had since I was 14.
Last but not least, Charmel. I have not seen Charmel since my wedding, can you believe that?!? Still, we picked up like I just saw her a day ago. Charmel is living in Sunny South Dakota, which makes me sad. If there is a "soul mate" of friends, she is mine. We compliment each other. We have been friends since 8th grade too...and been through lots of Crazy, Fun, side-splitting laughing times together.
Guys I had a blast - Wish we could do it every Friday!

Robison Christmas

Christmas night, we had my Mom's side of the family's Christmas. There was yummy food as usual, and a fun game of dirty Santa. This family is huge. Just to give you an idea, we had 32 playing Dirty Santa, and the little kids did not play! It was great to see everyone, especially Ali, who lives in Maryland. Next time I see her, she will have two new baby girls!!!

Davis with Emma, he is infatuated with her. He followed her around all nite and tried to give her some ham. ( I guess that is how he says I love you.)

Standing room only at Grandaddy's!

Katy B & Emma opening presents

Cousins: the next generation.

Bye Buddy!

Packing up Christmas meant saying good-bye to Buddy. Aunt Sherry sent the kids the elf on the shelf kit this year, and it was wonderful. Davis was too young to understand what was going on, but he did have fun looking for him everyday with Avery. Buddy really encouraged(bribed) Avery to be on her best behavior for Santa. I can't wait till he comes back!

Christmas morning

I am glad I took this the nite before, because Avery insisted on wearing her new Monkey pj's from MawMaw on Christmas morning.

The kids really got into opening presents this year!

I think Davis was most excited about his stocking- lots of candy.

He also liked Avery;s make-up kit.

Davis was excited to see what all Santa had left for him.(even though he headed toward the wrong pile)

He actually woke up before Avery. Sleeping Beauty needed a minute to wake up before she got into it.

Nana & Papa came over to see what all the kids got, and of course Avery had to give a make-up lesson.

The kids racked up, as did we. We are truly blessed.

Christmas Eve

Christmas Eve, we had the "Pettus Christmas" at my Mom's house. It is so great to have us all living withing 10 minutes of each other again.

Avery loved opening presents, and ended up "helping" Josh, Davis, & Coleby.

Riley LOVED the Spiderman Training Studio we got him.

We ended the night with some Wii bowling, baseball, & tennis. We played as well as you could with 5 kids 3 and under running around!

The rest of the night...
Cody's First Christmas. He's cute!

Coleby's first Christmas. He's cute too!

Davis didn't get a nap & fell asleep during dinner.

He even laid down on the playmat, amongst all the chaos- and almost fell asleep.

Cody smiling at his Aunt Lacy, yeah, I know ,I rock.

The Birthday Cousins in their matching outfits. They basically just laid around and looked cute.

Davis wants to do everything A & Riley do. He thinks he is a big kid, too!

He quickly caught his 2nd wind after Leigh's yummy banana pudding, and began climbing. Which leads to...getting stuck.

Davis also provided some entertainment.

And let's not forget Avery. She changed clothes all nite, and when she wasn't running around half-naked, she wanted to hold Coleby.

Happy Birthday Avery through the years

To: Avery Love, Mommy

She lights up a room when she walks in
Tiny dancer,performer, entertainer & friend.

Everything is beautiful through her eyes
Flowers, dresses, even Fries!

Baby doll, princess, sissy or little A
She'll find a place in your heart & there she will stay.

She never meets a stranger and puts everyone at ease,
And (usually) remembers to say Thank you & please.

Our special Christmas gift
None other can compare,
God sent her to us- it hardly seems fair...

Such a perfect little angel
blessed from Above,
Full of excitement, laughter& love.

So on this Happy day, as Avery turns 3,
I thank you dear Lord for giving her to me.
